Aggressive Soccer Moms, the Stockholm-based Lo-Fi Post Punk trio, have just released their seventh album “QUINT” featuring several new additions to their music. The most notable change is the addition of a new member, Stefan Wistrand, who has contributed his music to three tracks on the album. This has made the band a trio, and they are not showing any signs of slowing down.
Despite the new additions, the band has stayed true to their post punk roots, but has introduced jazz elements into their sound. Stefan’s compositions are laid-back and “lounge-ish”, but are effectively sabotaged by Thomas’ vocals and Anders’ guitars, creating a unique soundscape.
The album also includes the band’s first recorded cover, “Why” by Yoko Ono, which is a natural choice for the group given Ono’s similar approach to experimenting with music. The monotony of her song is interspersed with rock’n’roll vibes, breaking any genre boundaries that may exist.
“QUINT” is the seventh album released by Aggressive Soccer Moms, and they show no signs of slowing down as they have already promised to release their eighth album later this year. With their unique blend of punk and jazz, this album is sure to be a hit among fans of the genre.
