Mötherwitz, the British indie rock band, will release their debut single “Her Horatio” on March 24th and it will be a psychedelic journey through history.
The song tells the story of the love affair between Admiral Horatio Nelson and Lady Hamilton during the Napoleonic Wars, with a harmonic and catchy sound that is both engaging and educational. Mötherwitz’s influences are apparent, with nods to The Kinks, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and Crosby, Stills and Nash, but they manage to create a sound that is uniquely their own.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Timothy Hill, bassist David Mackinnon, lead guitarist Tom Connor, keyboardist Martin Brett, and drummer Nicola Passalacqua came together in 2017 with the goal of creating a following for Hill’s original songs. They’ve already made waves with appearances on Radio X and BBC Ulster, and they’re sure to gain even more attention with the release of “Her Horatio.”
Mötherwitz’s music is a mix of contemporary and alternative folk, progressive rock, and indie rock, with lyrics that are poetic and full of imagery. “Her Horatio” will be a promising debut for the band, and we can’t wait to hear more from them in the future. As Hill puts it, “Come observe them with their own mother wit.”
