Mad Painter is a Boston-based rock band that draws inspiration from British rock greats of the 1970s such as Uriah Heep, Status Quo, Sweet, Slade, Mott the Hoople, and Deep Purple. The band’s sound is described as forward-looking, brazen rock with a distinct retro flavor.

The band’s second album, “Splashed,” is set to be released on March 15, 2023, with two singles, “Illusion” and “Rock and Roll Samurai,” already out as promotional videos on YouTube. The album has been a long and arduous process, but it’s a milestone for the band. The album features 17 tracks, mostly originals, some co-writes, and a few covers such as Randy Pie’s “Highway Driver” and Uriah Heep’s “Stealin’.”

Mad Painter is made up of Alan Hendry on drums, Alan Nahabedian on guitar, Kenne Highland on bass, and Alex Gitlin on keyboards and vocals In a recent interview, the band talked about their music, influences, and plans for the future.

When asked what inspired them to make music, the band members cited their love for the British rock greats of the 1970s. They mentioned how bands like Rainbow, Deep Purple, and Uriah Heep take you on melodic journeys and are the real sonic painters. They draw inspiration from these bands and create aural visuals with their melodies, rhythms, and instruments.

Mad Painter’s music creation process varies from track to track. Sometimes, the melodies come first, and the lyrics come second. The band’s secret weapon is lyricist/poet Dmitry Epstein, who has written lyrics for some of their best tracks, such as “Illusion,” “Rock and Roll Samurai,” and “I’ve Been A Fool.”

The band’s proudest moment as musicians so far has been the release of their second album. A lot of work has gone into it, including recording sessions, mixing, writing and rewriting, mastering, and making it perfect. The band is also planning to lay down some tracks in the studio for the follow-up album this year, with one song in particular, “Empty Bottles,” already a live favorite based on the audience reaction.

Mad Painter plans to keep their fans engaged by increasing their worldwide radio presence, utilizing social media outlets of all sorts, doing more radio and podcast interviews, and definitely more shows. The band has done the local circuit in the Boston area and is now venturing into the New York market with a huge and very important gig at the Chelsea Table & Bar in Manhattan.

In conclusion, Mad Painter is a band that brings the best of 70s rock to the new millennium. Their music is forward-looking, brazen rock with a distinct retro flavor that draws inspiration from British rock greats of the 1970s. With their upcoming album release and plans for future shows, Mad Painter is sure to keep their fans engaged and entertained for years to come.
