Today we have the pleasure of interviewing Drosz, an up and coming artist from Middletown, United States, who is making waves in the music industry with his smooth vocals and versatile style of singing and songwriting. Drosz draws inspiration from different genres like EDM, House music, and Jazz, and incorporates R&B elements into his tracks, making his music unique and addictive.
Drosz recently released his single “Williamsburg” on March 7, 2023, under a Dance(ish) mood, which was inspired by the late-night Williamsburg Brooklyn atmosphere of rooftop parties and lounges. This track is a dedication to his cousin, RIC808, who passed away in February, and was a DJ that played at certain parties around Brooklyn. Drosz and RIC808 always wanted to release this song, and it’s now a tribute to his cousin’s memory.
When asked about his proudest moment as a musician, Drosz shared that it was when he and RIC808 performed one of their original songs at a youth event in Harlem back in 2007. It was one of their first performances, and they were young then, but it was a memorable moment for him. Drosz plans to release the tracks he created with RIC808 and keep dropping consistent music to keep his fans engaged.
The artist draws inspiration from the element of not knowing when creating his music. He finds that discovering a sound that catches him off guard and then building upon it with more layers is what drives him to create. “It pushes me to always try new things, which I love,” says Drosz. In the process of creating music, he likes to start from scratch without any preconceived ideas and simply flow with it. Drosz enjoys experimenting with different sounds and building from there, as he feels it allows for a more creative outcome.
Drosz’s upcoming release is a track called “Feel This Way,” which he created with RIC808. The house track is set to be released in the next few months, and Drosz is excited to see how it will be received by both listeners and DJs. “I’m hoping people will have a good time with it,” he says.
