Multi-instrumentalist and solo artist, Kaleb Slack, aka HoneyWire, has just released his sophomore album ‘From Ashore’, a collection of songs that encapsulate the influence of artists such as Tame Impala, The Neighbourhood, Lorde, and The Weeknd. The album, recorded entirely in his North Hollywood bedroom, brings back the black and white era of alternative music from the early 2010s, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and emotion.

Each song in ‘From Ashore’ feels like a diary entry, touching on themes of love, empathy, and even reckless abandon. This album is a departure from HoneyWire’s lo-fi alt rock/hip hop beginnings and showcases his growth as an artist. The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and Joy Division are just some of the artists that influenced the creation of this album, along with film scores.

Kaleb Slack’s background in poetry is evident in the album’s lyrics, with each song feeling like a personal reflection. As Slack says, “I wanted to be a poet growing up. Nobody would really listen unless there was music behind it. I think I prefer it that way too”. ‘From Ashore’ is a must-listen for anyone looking for a refreshing take on alternative music.
