J.Jr, the new solo project for Meeking front man Jake Meeking, is set to release their debut single “Last Line” on March 10th, 2023. The Bath-based musician draws influences from the late 60s and gritty 90s, aiming to mix the old and new to push musical boundaries. The single features collaborations with members of Bite the Buffalo, The Heavy, and Luna Lake, all renowned musicians from the South West of the UK.

J Jr SONO MusicThe band members of J.Jr include Jake Meeking on songwriting, vocals, and guitars, Spencer Page on bass and piano, and Dimitri Goneos on drums, with Stos Goneos providing additional instrumentation and production. The project is a collaboration of musicians who have worked together on various musical projects over the years.

The debut single “Last Line” is a two-part song, with the first half being darker and more soulful, cryptically referencing dying, while the second half is about acceptance. The single was recorded at Nine Volt Leap studio by Dominic Bailey-Clay.

For Jake Meeking, J.Jr was all about finding the fun in creating again, not trying to impress, and the result is some of his best and most proud work. While the band has not yet played any notable gigs or events, the release of “Last Line” is a promising start for this new solo project.
