SONO Music is proud to announce the release of Gintsugi’s new single, “Mon Coeur”. This is the first track from Gintsugi’s upcoming album due out in October.
Gintsugi is a multi-instrumentalist from Grenoble, France who makes music from broken pieces and vulnerable parts. She finds strength in vulnerability and is determined to lay bare the beauty of imperfections. In “Mon Coeur” Gintsugi creates a sort of soundtrack for a gothic film with modified voice, piano and orchestra.
The song is composed around the hypnotic melody of the piano, over which strings and vocals intertwine. Gintsugi imagines it as a medieval sci-fi tale, in which two male characters cannot love each other publicly and one of them decides to transform himself into the other, in order to remain close to him.
“I thought of this song as music for a film, in which electronic sounds manifest real presences. Transformation is a principle and an observation of the fact that we are not autonomous islands, but beings physiologically very permeable to our surroundings, easily contaminated by what we love,” Gintsugi commented.
Gintsugi’s first self-titled EP was produced by Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave, Beth Orton) and for the song “Outside” she collaborated with Yoad Nevo (Sia, AIR). Her upcoming full-length album is a collaboration with SONO Music e Beautiful Losers Records.
