I wanted to not only embarks on a personal journey of self-expression and growth as an artist but also share my intimate exploration of love with the world.

This EP is the best version of myself from a rough time period in life. Homebody details the transformation of me going from being an extroverted person to being restricted to my home due to circumstance. I think everyone can relate to some of the messaging of this project, as it’s me at my most vulnerable.
The urgency of this song was mainly triggered by a great loss I suffered not long ago, and it took this form probably as a way to cope with death, but not so much to exorcise it, rather to embrace it, surrender to it. From the start I had some key images in my mind, apparently disconnected and ‘asynchronous’, but intimately bound to one another as part of a greater order, embracing the smallest as well as the biggest and apparently most sophisticated living beings. A ‘quiet’ relationship creating a kind of short circuit in our conscience. After drafting the demo version, I discovered the beautiful work of an English photographer, Annie Spratt, whose pictures of details of autumnal scenes seemed to match with this song perfectly. Musically speaking, I liked the contrast created by the classical instruments (violins and piano) on one side and the warm pad (with its ‘sci-fi-esque’ vibrato) on the other. Before going to the studio for the final version I had the idea of adding sparse percussions, acquiring more and more presence and groove in the final part.

Sounds of machete form the bed of organic beats and we plunge into a surreal koto journey, created from RHYME’s beautiful koto playing.
This song holds the lyrics of RHYME’s favorite song ‘Tōryanse’, a very iconic old children’s song in Japan. The French and the Japanese lyrics come piercing through, carrying a feminine warrior energy. Will you let it enchant you?
In spring 2021, I faced an emotional breakdown, burdened by the previous 18 months. Seeking therapy, I received an official OCD diagnosis, a suspicion I had carried for most of my life. My focus turned to confronting violent intrusive thoughts, many involving my wife. These thoughts made me fear myself and question the darkness within me. At times, I couldn’t even look at my wife without being overwhelmed by these thoughts (“then my thoughts overcome me, it’s overwhelming to me when I see your face”). Despite wanting closeness during this challenging phase, the early stages of OCD treatment made it incredibly difficult (“You’re what I desire while I’m walking this wire, but my thoughts keep tripping up until they fall”).
Life presents both pushes and pulls—the past propelling us forward, the future beckoning us. Through therapy, I’ve found joy in the pain of my past, as it becomes a driving force. Ultimately, love sustains me through life’s trials, propelling me forward even in the darkest times.
Passato amaro, voglia di riscatto e forza di sacrificio e ciò che continuiamo a vedere nei testi, nelle frasi, e in Nolan; l’artista anche questa volta racconta in modo crudo la veridicità dei fatti nel suo territorio, non elogiando ma appunto parlarne per aprire gli occhi al tutto il mondo, la Sicilia è tanto altro, non solo mafia, ma a quanto pare ancora siamo lontani da questa idea.
Il brano è un banger crudo, senza mezzi termini, punchline si susseguono e creano un mix di grinta che non può far altro che caricarti. Castelvetrano è un posto difficile ma ciò è chiave portante per inseguire i propri sogni.
“Hex” it’s the oldest song of the album. I started strumming it with a guitar at the same I was writing the songs for my first EP. At that time the former USA president was still in charge and I was impressed by his misogynistic and racist speech. That’s when I found the funny rhyme “Hex/T-rex”. I could find similar contempt in other people, who pretend they’re better than others but who need people to dominate, without which they are nothing. I was also considering climate change and how so few people consume so many resources, while nature suffers, temperature raises, and many others are condemned to death and poverty.
That’s why I wrote the “Hex”. When I started producing the song two years later, I arranged it with piano, violin and a Moog Synthesizer, paying hommage to Pj Harvey’s music.

In the song there’s a plea for dreams, “show me a dream, feed me”, a request for the Dreamfeeder to release creative visions. Dreamfeeder is also a fearsome figure, which can be heard in the drama of the song, as well as the cathartic chorus, when the fears are gone and visions are clear.

Mixing the feeling of falling in love with the energy of a club setting. I wanted the song to capture the exhilaration you feel when you spot that special someone in a crowd of people, and the way the music amplifies the intensity of the moment. For me, that’s what R&B is all about – capturing the raw emotion of love and infusing it with a sexy, soulful sound.
“Dead Wrong” details a unique but all too common story of an unequal and toxic relationship. I love this song because it plays into the themes of the overarching project. The song drives home the feeling of wishing you never met someone or that you would’ve just stayed in that night. Pete and I actually started this song in winter of 2018 after a wild night out in NYC. I showed him the song on a rooftop bar and he immediately loved it and wrote the whole song in the cab ride home. We were anxious to release it because we thought that people wouldn’t get it, we put it on the back-burner then the pandemic happened. As I was putting this project “Homebody” together I stumbled on this song again and it was a perfect fit, especially since this sound is more popular than ever.

Que las cosas tengan un final puede ser triste pero es más triste el olvido, abandonar todos los recuerdos que has creado con alguien, como si nunca hubiese pasado, como si nunca hubiese existido. En “El Recuerdo”, Cecilia recopila todos esos recuerdos y le pide a esa persona que no los olvide, ya que eso es lo único realmente importante, lo único que quedará después de todo. En la última frase de la canción, después de haber cantado a pleno pulmón y haber exhalado todos sus buenos recuerdos, la cantante ha olvidado la razón de por qué hubo un final.
Ticco viene ispirato dal suo vissuto, dopo molti anni dal suo ultimo innamoramento si chiede cosa stia facendo la sua ex, se le vanno bene le cose. Il titolo é un po un riassunto del suo modo di amare, spesso portato al limite, e quasi in modo sarcastico dice che il dolore si scorda, questo perché spesso torniamo a commettere gli stessi sbagli, quasi come se ci fosse una parte di noi che vuole dimenticarsi del dolore.
This song represents the feeling of a panic attack. Basically, I am talking to this feeling as if it was an entity by describing what it does to me and with this process it is getting impersonated. The song helped me to get a better understanding for this feeling as well as helping me to distance myself from it by separating it from myself.
Il quinto singolo di Amberscent è il capitolo più sperimentale dell’album in uscita “Between Strength and Beauty”.
Amberscent sperimenta la fusione tra musica elettronica, musica classica e cinematica in un brano che vuole rappresentare contemporaneamente l’istantanea di un nordico paesaggio in tempesta, metafora delle sue emozioni, e il percorso per arrivarci.
Un brano che descrive qualcosa di istantaneo e determinato, pur essendo costantemente in evoluzione nel suo percorso: non è la prima volta che la musica di Amberscent porta a galla gli aspetti paradossali del tempo. Un solo istante può durare vari minuti quando le emozioni che porta con sé ci trascinano nelle nostre profondità. Come, al contrario, possiamo avere l’impressione che un tempo molto lungo sia passato anche in un solo istante, quando siamo assorti in qualcosa di molto forte.
Familiar Path è uno dei percorsi del tempo che l’artista ha sperimentato su di sé. È la foto istantanea del tempo tempestoso che l’artista subisce in base a certe emozioni, ed è contemporaneamente la delineazione esatta del percorso che attraversa quell’istante per arrivare ad essere ciò che esso stesso è: un istante di 7 minuti, e 7 minuti in un istante.
Amberscent trae ispirazione dalle ultime ricerche sul tempo secondo la meccanica quantistica, aggiungendo il suo tocco personale riguardo alla sua ricerca sulle emozioni e i sentimenti: infatti, oltre che mostrarci il dualismo che caratterizza il Tempo, con Familiar Path vuole mettere in risalto che i percorsi del “nostro tempo” (che lei definisce “tempo emotivo”) ci portano inevitabilmente a dei bivi che abbiamo già visto, a delle emozioni che sono radicate in noi e prendono sempre la stessa direzione, e che ritornano spesso quando facciamo esperienza di qualcosa di familiare. Gli attimi in cui sentiamo che qualcosa ci è familiare, per Amberscent sono i bivi di questo percorso temporale ed emotivo a cui ci troviamo davanti ogni giorno più o meno inconsciamente. E le rarissime volte che ne siamo consci, questi bivi li chiamiamo “Déjà vu”.
In altre parole ancora quindi, Familiar Path può definirsi il tentativo di Amberscent di descrivere una delle anatomie possibili del Déjà vu.
The song Water explores the feeling of the weight of life being lifted by the support of water. It explores an introverted journey with the self in communion with nature. Oneself feeling the beneficial effect of nature, accepting it. It was made by stretching some modular sounds created by Dontmesswithjuan herself, glitching some foley sounds into a dancey beat and creating a vocal melody to transport you inward.
Era un periodo in cui stavo benissimo, ero finalmente riuscito ad andare avanti dopo una rottura sentimentale, fino a quando per una settimana non mi ha funzionato il bluetooth della macchina. Questa cosa all’inizio sembrava anche essere positiva, in quanto potevo ascoltare nuove canzoni e informarmi sulle notizie del giorno, ma già al terzo giorno ero stanco volevo di nuovo la mia musica. Durante il quarto giorno di questo inferno da un momento all’altro si riconnette il telefono alla macchina, e con un sorriso a 32 denti attivo la musica, e come prima canzone parte un brano che avevo salvato un anno prima, quella canzone che eravamo soliti urlare nel traffico di Roma, quella canzone cosi tanto bella, che mi avevi portato ad odiare. Cosi percependo questa sensazione penso che sarebbe stato un bel tema da trattare in un brano.
