What Song Does Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul’ Sample?

There are actually two samples on the track…

Beyoncé’ has shared her new single ‘Break My Soul’ in full.

Out now, it’s the first single of her ‘Renaissance’ era, and it taps into the surging, emboldened energy of club culture.

Ahead of the release fans were promised a sample laden cut, and ‘Break My Soul’ actually uses two prominent nods to club classics.

The synth line is a modified version of the central melody from ‘Show Me Love by Robyn S, an oft-covered house staple that hasn’t aged a minute since its release.

Alongside this, ‘Break My Soul’ also dips into Jersey Club, utilising a vocal snippet from Big Freedia’s ‘Explode’.

As contrasting sample sources go, they don’t come much better – the huge, universal melody, and the salute to Black underground innovators.

‘Break My Soul’ is online now, and was produced by Beyoncé, The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, BlaqNmilD, and Jay-Z.

‘Renaissance’ is out on July 29th.
