This new release is a co-production between Thread Mill & Dontmesswithjuan. It is their first collaborative single release, before the storm. They have been quietly building, using their similar forces to generate a whole larger than the sum of its parts.
This song imagines a little moment in time where two humans feeling something strong between them can’t understand one another. They are attracted like magnets but can’t make sense of anything without destroying each other.
Dontmesswithjuan & Thread Mill commented: “‘Crumbled’ plays a big role in our story as it started our musical collaborative journey. When we met in a park in real life, we got to share about how Dontmesswithjuan saw Thread Mill perform the song Crumbled live and thought it was such a cool song. Thread Mill then confessed that she composed this song after hearing Dontmesswithjuan’s music for the first time. It was then clear to us that a collaboration surrounding this track was a part of our destiny. What else does destiny have in store for us?……..”.

DMWJ: Dontmesswithjuan is a living ecosystem, drenched in the unknown, orchestrated by a girl who likes to stay in the shadows. From Montreal, 360° artist, she is unfolding into her own genre called Surrealist Electronica, where her philosophical questions, haunting voice, dark textures, sound design, glitchy foley elements, and surrealist videos collide to create a cinematic world outside of human reality. Come find yourself in an introspective and imaginative journey.
Dontmesswithjuan and her record label SONO Music Group released her debut album Juan & the Pursuit of Happiness in June 2021, on which each single represents a level into fictional character Juan’s quest to shed light on his questions of purpose. Now the cycle starts again, this time in the Metaverse.
Written, recorded, produced and mixed by Dontmesswithjuan, the last single Young Lady from her album was released along with the album on June 25th, 2021 followed by accompanying surrealist video and short story. Sometimes in life, we need to eliminate a version of ourselves, that we might have been very attached to. We need to let go of a part of ourselves, of our frustrations, of our past….
So we can move into the next cycle…….
Thread Mill:
Thread Mill is a Canadian indie electronic project led by singer, songwriter and producer Ariane Sisavath, based in Montréal, Québec. Guitarist Pier-Luc Perron joins her on several productions.
Thread Mill shares dreamy, vapory and introspective electronic music, mainly inspired by genres like Electro Pop, Synthpop, Synthwave and 80’s New Wave. Their sound involves synthesizers, airy vocals and at times electric guitars.
After releasing In Limbo EP on September 24th 2021, Thread Mill will be releasing several singles and collaborative works for what’s left of 2021 and the beginning of 2022. Coming out on November 26th, next single Floating takes the dreamy soundscapes to another level.
