“Cercando Mary” is the new single by Sconforto, produced in collaboration with Nova. In this track, the artist explores the theme of violence against women by recalling the historic “Mary” by Gemelli DiVersi. The instrumental reprises the song’s original piano turn, reinserting it into a totally new arrangement that winks at early 2000s HipHop-R&B while contaminating it with a more modern sound. “Cercando Mary” is the third single from the “2000s” project already anticipated by “Ma Dove Sei” and “Biscia.”

The song has been created together with the others already released from the “2000s” project. In each of them, a specific genre and mood belonging to that historical musical moment is in fact re-proposed. In this case in particular, Sconforto mixed “Mary” (Gemelli DiVersi) with his personal style, also inserting continuous quotes and references to other songs including “Thank You” by Dido. The result is a strongly up-to-date song with a “retro” soul, also reflected by the themes it deals with: cruel but sadly up-to-date.
Sconforto commented: “This song is my personal tribute to Mary by Gemelli DiVersi, a song I have been very connected to since I was a child. I quoted the refrain by rewriting some verses in order to construct a modern and current story. My goal, besides paying homage to the original artists of the song by giving it a personal interpretation was to raise awareness of the issue on the ground.”
