With the idea for a melody and the lyrics seemingly coming out of nowhere, this energetic new single by Vic Brando almost wrote itself. But only after combining it with the chord progression of one of the very first songs he wrote years ago, this track started to form into a super catchy and fresh indie pop rendition of ‘Hey Ya’ by OutKast. From there, it was about making the sound design for this track distinctive, but palpable.
Featuring super memorable guitar solos, a chunky bass line coupled with driving drums , some fun synths and unique vocals – some of which are improvised first takes – this track will make you want to move .
Similar to ‘Hey Ya’, ‘Head in the Clouds’ is upbeat and fun, while the lyrics speak a slightly different language. It’s a snarky warning letter to a person that has lost their sensibility to arrogance and is about to fall back to the harsh reality. Despite the slightly edgier lyrics, this has to be one of the most refreshing summer sounds in indie pop this year so far.
Vic Brando commented: “Those random ideas that you have out of nowhere are usually the best ones you can have. I basically tried making the catchiest song I could do and I think I succeeded. It’s also somewhat of a cheeky sneak peak of my next EP coming out soon, so watch the sky…”.

Vic Brando, a genre defying solo artist and producer based in Germany, always finds ways to subvert expectations of established genres. By blending multiple styles within each project, he marries familiar elements with fresh ideas into his own alternative pop sound. On the lyrical side, he shares his deeply introspective thoughts about complex feelings, relationships and being an outcast by painting relatable metaphors.
Being born in a small village in Kazakhstan and moving to Germany as a young kid has made him feel out of place anywhere he went. Torn between different cultures and being rather introverted, he longed for ways to express himself – which he finally found through music at the somewhat late age of 18, after buying his first guitar.
Multiple other instruments, singing and even audio engineering followed this first desire of teaching himself anything he needed to connect with others through music. He takes pride in doing every part of the process himself, as it grants him all the creative power.
Vic Brando uses his upcoming to an advantage, as it enables him to be versatile and independent of any strict rules. This philosophy of freedom is why he is drawn towards his main influences Gorillaz, OutKast and Tyler, The Creator. Other acts, that shape his sound on a surface level are Dominic Fike, Billie Eilish, Duckwrth and Kevin Abstract.
