The song is a hypnotic and multi-genre blend of ethereal and emotive sounds that take listeners on a nostalgic journey into an atmospheric realm influenced by the artist’s Greek upbringing.
Dionysiac, whose real name is Dioni Kechrimpari, was born and raised in Athens, Greece, and is currently based in London, United Kingdom. She draws from a diverse range of genres such as trip-hop, ambient, alt-pop, and dream pop, incorporating influences from the psychedelic and cinematic realms. Her aim is to create music that opens new doors of perception, inviting introspection while suggesting liberation from the boundaries of the mind.
“Maestro of the Vines” is a deeply personal and emotional track for Dionysiac. She shares, “Making this song was an expression of raw emotion and an effort to give timeless form to passing moments. It made me realize that loss can become the foundation of shaping a new world. I wrote this song to make tangible a world that would soon only exist in memory. I tried to capture the essence of someone I deeply love and store it in a soundscape to fill the void that loss creates.”
The production process for “Maestro of the Vines” was an experiential one, with Dionysiac writing and producing simultaneously. The first version of the track was dreamy and static, but the artist wanted to make sure that listeners could feel the intensity of her emotions. With the help of her vocal coach and mentor, David Laudat, they were able to create a vocal arrangement that did justice to the depth of the song’s meaning.
Although “Maestro of the Vines” is the first release from Dionysiac’s project, it is just the beginning. The artist explains, “This track is the first of a project I recently completed, in which I conceptually explore the contradictions of the human spirit and the universe through sound. The purpose of my project was to interpret and re-imagine Nietzsche’s Dionysian/Apollonian dichotomy in the arts and bring it to a contemporary context.” The artist has plans to release more tracks from this project in the upcoming months, each one harmonizing with the others in a complementary way.
