Born and raised in Milan, Italy, Our Beauty in the Fire, also known as Matteo Fabbris, has been a part of the underground and alternative music scene for over 20 years. In the summer of 2019, he embarked on a solo project, driven by a need to express his past and current ideas, perceptions, and influences. This project soon evolved into a ‘gentle obsession’ for the artist, as he continued to explore and refine his sound.
Our Beauty in the Fire’s music is a fusion of dark folk, gothic, and singer-songwriter influences, while also incorporating classical and modern instruments. His vocals, coupled with harmonies and heartfelt lyrics, reflect the complex inner world of the artist. With each song, Our Beauty in the Fire aims to evoke a range of emotions, from fear and melancholy to joy and surrender.
In regards to his latest release, Our Beauty in the Fire commented, “I’m so happy about this new release, which I think it’s interesting both from the musical and from the aesthetic/lyrical point of view. Quite unusually, I associated this feeling with ‘blue’, and this colour provides a sort of leitmotif for the song and its visuals. The choice of the topic is particularly important to me: far from any banal or stereotypical treatment of the theme, the song tries to explore fear from different perspectives and in its different forms, but mainly personal and intimate. I think we can’t (and shouldn’t) live apart from or suppress this complex feeling. It is definitely rooted in our nature. What scares us of fear is surely its obsessive, destructive, even annihilating side, but I think we sometimes overlook its potential to foster strength and bring renewal.”
