Rob Muir’s Luna Waves is on the verge of gently—he has no intention to be loud—quietly making a humongous impact on the darker, dreamier, ethereal side of thingies. His very own brand of psych-rock meets dream-pop music.

Hailing from Nottingham, United Kingdom, Muir finds his inspiration in bands from the 90s grunge era, like Pearl Jam and Nirvana, down to contemporary bands such as Tame Impala and Radiohead.

After the debut album, “Seafoam Dream (Part 1)”, released in 2018, Luna Waves returns with the new single “Half Awake”, which the artist announced to his fans earlier today, March 1st, 2024. The single is a precursor to the fourth album, “Comedowns”, which is out later this year. The music of Luna Waves is a mirror looking at Muir’s life experience, heartfelt as he opens his soul through lyrics and atmospheric soundscapes. His music embodies a travel within emotionally sensed and dreamy landscapes, nostalgic and with a melancholy feeling that excites admiration at the same time for their introspectiveness.

Just in 2022 came out his second album under the title “Blood Moon,” and on this one, Muir spread his creative wings way further and added plenty of new sounds and techniques to music production. This actually required learning how to use Ableton Live music production software, thanks to which he managed to find even greater freedom in searches for influences and development of his creativity.

Muir’s passion and dedication to his work is something evident from only the fact that he had an intention to bring out two albums in one year. His third album, “Bruised Gold,” came out on 18th November 2022. The album was a hybrid of several influences that Luna Waves had, thus making a more focused and coherent recording.

Hailing from within the music industry, Luna Waves brings forth a new term for combining genres and influences. It brings forth a new light from evolutionary rock containing elements of dream pop and psych rock, all for a specific, uniquely familiar sound. Now with “Half Awake” out and the upcoming debut album “Comedowns,” Luna Waves is ready to make an even bigger mark with the rest of it. “Luna Waves” is a project from the mind and hands of multi-instrumentalist Rob Muir, located in Bedford, United Kingdom. Influences are taken far and wide across musicals of ‘90s grunge acts, through to likes of current dream poppers, when describing Luna Waves, the music styles together dark dreamy and ethereal soundscapes. Since then, Luna Waves has gone on to captivate fans by featuring tracks from his debut album, “Seafoam Dream (Part 1),” dropped in 2018. Between “Half Awake” and “Comedowns”, Luna Waves has enough in the tank to see a year’s worth of regular music releases. Keep an eye on this up-and-coming artist and his atmospheric soundscapes.
