SONO Music is proud to announce the release of Amberscent’s new single “The Real Things”.

The single, a primordial chant between choral and dystopian voices and the artist’s authentic voice, is accompanied by an orchestra that leads us to fully understand. Amberscent is the artistic identity of Giada Squarcia, born in Marche, a region in central Italy and now based in Rome.

Her artistic identity has been shaped on classical music studies, music for cinema studies and research on electronic instruments. She defines everything she writes as multiple attempts to bring those very different parts of herself together, even though whenever she writes about something, she actually never starts from herself.

The main reason why she keeps looking into opposing and yet matching sounds is that she finds their combination always far more accurate than anything else in describing not only herself, but also emotions and the way they affect us.

In addition to her own project, she is mainly dedicated to the soundtrack of short films, video art and also the live performances of soundtracks on films, for which she was a finalist for several competitions and received an award for the best experimental soundtrack of a historic advertising spot of an international contest (SeeUsound – Turin).

Amberscent commented: “In the making of this album, I found a version of myself that scared me so much that I had to stop composing several times, and for long periods. “The Real Things” made me realize that I needed to bring this version of myself to life, in order to keep going with the rest of the work. It was challenging, and definitely scary, but something that I would do again for sure.

Next chapters will tell more about this sense of fear and struggle: it turns out that when you know how to fight your fears, you start to like the beauty that comes from that.”
