Frontman Alfie wrote Classless at the back end of 2019 when he was 17, inspired by emotions that came up at his ex’s house party.
After finding an acoustic guitar in the ‘blue room’ he wrote the first verse then and finished the rest when he got home.
The song comes from an introspective point of view, about contrasting feelings of jealousy and forgiveness after a break-up and how he dealt with them as a young and naive 17 year old.
The Lanes commented: “We are very excited to finally release this one. It has been in the works for some time now and the response it has gotten at our live shows over the recent tour has made us very eager to get it out. We have been in and out of the studio to encapsulate the same energy and emotions that we’ve felt at those gigs, and we’ve reached that stage just in time for some big shows such as the Isle of White Festival this summer. “.

The Lanes are a young 4-piece Indie/Rock band from Norwich, UK described by BBC Intro In Norfolk as ‘One of our favourite new young up and coming bands’, and became John Kennedy’s Radio X Xposure ‘Big One’ (– 12th Feb) following the release of ‘There’s A Locked Up Safe’.
The band originally formed as a group of school mates after being promised a gig at the Norwich Arts Centre (Nirvana, Oasis) before a single song had been written. The result was playing a promising set consisting primarily of music from ‘The Lanes, Vol.1’ and has since been followed up by the releases of ‘Vol. 2’, their debut single ‘Take The Hint’ and follow up single ‘There’s A Locked up Safe’. This has led to become one of Thisfeeling’s Big in 2022 Pics, playing Wildpaths festival and completing a short but successful UK tour. Summer ’22 has set for new music and appearances at the Isle of white festival.
